The Department of Recreational Sports and the Texas A&M Men’s Rugby Club are proud to host the inaugural USA Rugby Collegiate 7’s National Championships. 35 of the best men’s and women’s collegiate rugby teams in the country will be on display at the newly opened Penberthy Sports Club Complex.
Rugby returns as an Olympic Sport in 2016 and preparations have already begun with the USA National team winning the bronze medal at the most recent Pan-Am games. Today’s current collegiate players are likely to feature in the 2016 Olympic team. 7’s rugby is an exciting and fast paced game, with 7 minute halves and only 7 players per side defending a field that is 75 yards wide.
