We’d again like to congratulate our four teams that participated in the USA Rugby Club 7s National Championships in Denver last weekend. The TRU and the RRRC were represented well with passion and good rugby!
Little Rock was narrowly defeated by Atlanta Old White 17-12 in the Men’s Bowl. To get there, Little Rock faced Utah in pool play, losing 38-5, they defeated NOVA 19-12 and then beat Belmont Shore 35-12. In the Bowl quarter finals the Stormers easily defeated NOLA 26-7 but fell in the semi finals to Santa Monica 35-12. In the Bowl consolation and with their narrow loss to Old White, Little Rock places 12th place overall.
The Austin Huns struggled in pool play, losing to the Kansas City Blues 26-7, and the Seattle Saracens 24-12. Their sole win came against NOLA and they won by a conversion, 21-19. In the Shield quarterfinals, the Huns were eliminated by NOVA, 17-7. They again faced NOLA in the Shield Consolation and lost 27-19, placing 16th overall.
The defending Champions, ARPTC did well on the weekend, coasting through pool play. They faced Phoenix first and dispatched them 45-0, next they defeated Old Blue 38-7 and in their final match they beat Youngbloodz 24-10. In the Cup quarterfinals they faced a tough Scion team who eventually won by a try, 12-7. In the Cup consolation, they blanked ORSU 24-0 to claim 3rd place overall.
The Austin Valkyries also struggled in pool play, unable to claim a victory against all Women’s Premier League teams. They lost to the the San Diego Surfers 38-5, the Berkeley All Blues 24-7 and the Glendale Raptors 12-7. In the Shield quarterfinals they faced Orlando and lost narrowly 14-5. In the Shield consolation they claimed their first win over Tempe, 17-12. Overall they placed 15th.
