TRU MENS DIVISION 1 LEAGUE COMPETITION

Incorporation of Additional Rules, Standards, and Procedures
The TRU Men’s Club Div.1 League is also the South regional league of the West TU’s Div.1 competition, known as the West-South D1 league. There is also a North regional league comprised of teams from Eastern Rockies and Missouri LAU’s. All existing Western regulations and procedures for all competitive programs, and all regulations and procedures adopted by USA Rugby in the areas of eligibility, appeal processes, discipline regulations and procedures, and any other regulations applying to competitions are considered part of these league regulations.

Name and Membership
The Texas Rugby Union Men’s Club Division 1 (D1) League is comprised of the following seven teams:

AUSTIN BLACKS
DALLAS RFC
DALLAS HARLEQUINS
HARC
HUNS
SHREVEPORT RFC
THE WOODLANDS

The D1 teams will play each other on a home and away basis for a total of 12 league matches.

A competition-points table will be used for establishing the league standings and at the end of the league season the TRU Division1 League Trophy will be awarded to the club at the top of the league standings.

The Dallas Harlequins D1 side will not advance to any Div.1 playoffs. At the end of the regular league season, the top four teams in the standings (Dallas Harlequins excluded) will advance to the first round of the USA Rugby playoffs – the “Round of 32.”

All matches will be standard 80 minute matches and the TRU Local Referee Organization will assign referees for the matches.

League Season
The TRU Division 1 League Schedule is shown on the TRU website and on the Western TU web-site.

Scheduling of Matches
The Texas Rugby Union will schedule league matches and will submit the schedule to the West TU administration office as required by their deadline. The match schedule will indicate the date, opponent, and venue of all league matches.

Change in Match Schedule
By mutual agreement between the two clubs involved in any league match together with the approval of the Texas Rugby Union Competitions Director, a match may be rescheduled to a different date or venue. Such a change must be communicated to the Texas Rugby Union Competitions Director and the Western Rugby Union administrative office at least three weeks before the original match schedule or three weeks before the proposed new date. Any costs incurred in the change will be borne by the club requesting the change in date or venue.

Name and Membership
The Texas Rugby Union Men’s Division 2 (D2) competition is comprised of the following six teams:

SAN ANTONIO RFC
THE WOODLANDS-2

The D2 teams will play each other on a home and away basis for a total of 12 league matches.

A competition-points table will be used for establishing the league standings and at the end of the league season the TRU Division 2 League Trophy will be awarded to the club at the top of the league standings.

ADVANCEMENT TO THE WEST TERRITORIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Based on the league standings at the end of the regular season the top teams will advance to the West TU Championships. The number of qualifiers and the seeding of the teams will be allocated by the West TU.

TRU MENS CLUB DIVISION 3 COMPETITION

These regulations and procedures are to be utilized for the competition which is comprised of three regional subdivisions, as follows:

Within each division each team will play each other team on a home and away basis and a points table will be used for establishing the league positions. The top two sides in each Division as well as two wildcards will advance to an eight-team seeded playoff. The top finishing clubs in each division will be seeds 1-3 based on total points, with the second place teams from each division being seeds 4-6 based on points. The last two wildcard will be the teams with the highest points among the remaining 8 teams from all three subdivisions.

Winners of these quarterfinals will then participate in a playoff weekend, with teams retaining previous seeding. Semifinals played on Saturday, the final and third place matches played on Sunday. The winners of each semi-final will play each other in the final of the Texas State Division III Championships. The winner of the TRU Division III League will advance to the Western RFU Championships as the TRU #1 seed and, if allocated additional seeds by the West TU, then the second place club will advance as the TRU #2 seed and the third placed club will advance as the TRU #3 seed
