Texas Tech Shines @ Westerns

While the Texas A&M Aggies may had the biggest achievement at Westerns this weekends Division One Championships with a clean sweep of the competition, the best story of the weekend just may be the rugby in Lubbock.

Texas Tech men had struggled in recent years in Division One and were relegated to Division Two this year in a restructure of the entire TRU collegiate competition.

The Men’s squad responded to the new challenge by running the table in League play and through the TRU playoffs. Thus punching their ticket to Westerns. They played very well in both matches and won their first round match up defeating defending champion Univ Northern Colorado before losing in the West Division Two final to St. Loius University.

The Lady Ruggers at Texas Tech have been outstanding over the past several years and also ran the table in League play. The string of dominante performances continued at Westerns with solid wins on both days over Univ. of Wyoming (34-10) and Wayne State (37-5) ensuring their trip USA Rugby Collegiate National Championships!

Congrats to both squads, the staff and the Universities.
