The Lost Afternoon Rugby Luncheon in Houston on July 30 will honor the Texas Rugby Union on its founding 40 years ago. Pioneers from the early 70s (and earlier) will be recognized at the event, with commitments to attend having already been received from folks instrumental to our founding from all over the state.
Those who attended the first Lost Afternoon last year can attest to what a blast it was. This year, speakers include Irish rugby raconteur George Hook, former Scottish and Lion star John Rutherford, and Tom Wacker, former IRB CEO and a member of the USA Rugby Board of Directors.
Tickets to the luncheon at the Westchase Marriott are $75 (tax deductible) and include two free drink tickets, with any monies raised being used for local youth rugby initiatives. Seats are going fast, and can only be ordered on-line at www.lostafternoon.org — no tickets will be sold at the door.
The hotel is also offering great rates on rooms, and the website can provide more details on sponsorships and the luncheon itself.
It would be great to have as many teams as possible send representatives to join in this celebration of the TRU and thank all those on whose shoulders we now stand. See you on the 30th.
