Former St. Thomas rugby and current Texas A&M University player Conor Mills (09) was named to the 2011 United States U20 Junior World Trophy squad last week. The 2011 Junior World Trophy competition will be held in Tibilsi, Georgia during May and June this year. Members of the squad will be overseas for five weeks, including a stop in London to play the London Exiles as a pre-tournament warm-up. The United States is in Pool A which includes Samoa, Russia, and Uruguay (Pool B includes: Canada, Japan, Georgia, and Zimbabwe). Playoffs follow pool play with each team being guaranteed four matches at the tournament.
The selection process was intense and included multiple assemblies throughout the year, with only 28 players selected for the final squad. Conor has been a member of the U17 and U18 National teams before being selected for this squad. A two-time Texas Rugby Player of the Year and STH Rugby Hall of Fame member, Mills now plays in the College Premier Division for Texas A&M University.
PS: His Dad is beyond proud!
