The third and final Red River Rugby Conference Series Tournament is this weekend in Houston, TX in conjunction with Varano 7s. The RRRC Qualifier Series consists of three tournaments featuring Senior Men’s and Senior Women’s divisions. The team that accumulates the most points during the course of the series will be awarded a slot in the USA Rugby National Championship tournament on August 9-10. In order to be eligible, teams must meet USA Rugby and RRRC eligibility requirements and attend a minimum of two of the three tournaments.
The Men’s division has been decided with the Austin Blacks clinching the inaugural title. The women’s division, however, is still very much up for grabs with three teams still mathematically alive. See below for the tie breaker rules for this Series and all RRRC Competitions.
Teams are required to attend all three (3) RRRC Qualifiers to be eligible to qualify for Nationals. Points for each RRRC Qualifier will be awarded as follows:
First Place 6 Points
Second Place 4 Points
Third Place 2 Points
Fourth Place 1 Points
Updated points table will be published every Wednesday following each RRRC Qualifier Tournament by the RRRC Sevens Director to the RRRC and GU’s. See more footnotes about the Points System here.
Ties in the standings will be broken in the following order:
- Win Loss record in head to head matches
- Best point differential (Points for less points against)
- Best try differential (Tries for less tries against)
- Most points scored
- Most tries scored
- Toss of a coin
