The third annual Texas Rugby Union Summit was a sensational success!
Over the weekend we held a Coaching Level 300 where seven participants took their certification to the next level. This included live practicals with players while the instructors oversaw and gave feedback.
We also held two Coaching Level 200 courses on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday ten attendees were certified and on Sunday we upped it by one for a total of eleven participants. This is the required minimum of all coaches so we’re excited to have twenty one new certified coaches!
For the first time ever we held the new USA Rugby Strength and Conditioning course and that was a big hit with six attendees. Course feedback was that was the perfect place to get a develop a foundational understanding of Rugby specific Strength and Conditioning.
As always we host a Referee Level One course and this year we had our most attendees with sixteen! Another first was that the average age of the participants was under 33 years of age. If you missed the course, there is another one in Lewisville, TX on October 21.
Lastly we held a Coaching of Match Officials course where we can ensure that referee coaches provide assistance and guidance to develop the referee. This course had seven participants including several current referees and a few team coaches.
If you’re counting we will have 70+ individuals certified after they complete their post course work!
