Call for Volunteers: Enhance USA Rugby Senior Club Rugby as a Committee Member

The sport of rugby offers numerous benefits, including opportunities, competition, friendships, and a sense of identity. We invest our time and volunteer at various levels because we believe that adult club rugby contributes to the mental, emotional, and physical well-being of its members. Our dedication aims to ensure that future generations can enjoy the camaraderie and connection that the sport provides beyond their schooling or training. We volunteer because we recognize the importance of giving back to the game that has given us so much.

The Senior Club Council is seeking individuals with fresh perspectives, skills, and enthusiasm to join several committees. These committees play a crucial role in enhancing the day-to-day experiences of senior club rugby members. By assisting the Club Council in navigating the current landscape, volunteers can help ensure that members receive valuable benefits and meaningful experiences.

The committees are seeking nominations for committee members to serve on Senior Club Council Committees. Priority may be given to individuals who fill a gap in the committee membership, such as someone from the West Coast/Pacific for geographic representation or women/non-binary individuals to promote diversity.

Nomination for Senior Club Council committees can be self-nomination or traditional nominations.

Nominations will be accepted until July 1, 2023.

Union endorsement will not be required or requested. If a Committee Chair has any questions or concerns regarding a candidate, they can reach out to the appropriate Union Representative.

Executive Committee members will collaborate with each Committee Chair to review final selections before presenting them to the Full Council. If there are not enough suitable candidates, applications will continue to be accepted and screened until the committee is filled. Committee Chairs will present their selections to the Full Council. After the Council’s questions and answers to the candidates, the Council will either approve the committee members or request the Committee Chair to reconsider candidates of concern.

Committee Chairs should only be asked to reconsider committee members if there is a Council Conflict, such as the person already being approved for another committee, or if there is a legal/disciplinary issue that the Committee Chair was not aware of.

Timeline:

  • Call for Applications: June 14.
  • Initial application closes: July 10.
  • Screening and selection by the August Executive Committee meeting, where they will be presented for review.
  • Vote by the full council at the August Senior Club Council meeting.
