The Texas Rugby Union (TRU) has announced the hosts for its major events in 2025, setting the stage for an exciting year of rugby across the region. With key competitions and special events lined up, there’s plenty for players, fans, and administrators to look forward to in the coming months.
This year’s TRU Summit Conference and Hall of Fame Banquet will take place in the larger Houston metro area. The Summit, scheduled for August 22-24, will bring together players, coaches, referees, and administrators for a weekend of education, networking, and professional development. As part of the weekend, the Hall of Fame Banquet on August 23 will honor individuals who have made a lasting impact on rugby within the region.
The league season is already underway, with teams vying for postseason berths. The postseason kicks off with the RRRC Semi-finals on April 5, hosted by the higher-seeded teams. The RRRC Championships will follow on April 12, hosted by Dallas RFC at Lake Highlands Park in Dallas, TX, where the top XVs teams in the TRU will be crowned.
In May, the Gulf Coast Super Regionals will take place on May 3-4, hosted by the True South Union. This event brings together the best men’s and women’s teams from the TRU, True South, Georgia, Florida, and the Carolinas. While the specific location is yet to be announced, this regional event promises intense competition.
During the summer, attention will shift to the 7s Series, which includes both competitive (RRRC) and social (TOLA) tournaments. These events typically feature over 30 men’s and women’s teams competing across multiple stops, culminating in the crowning of champions. Hosts for the 7s Series are still being finalized, and the TRU is encouraging interested parties to step forward (application).
The year will conclude with the Mary Graham All Stars event on December 6-7 in Grand Prairie, TX. This event highlights select players from across the country, providing a platform for high-level competition and showcasing the depth of talent in the rugby community.
With such a packed schedule, 2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year for rugby in the TRU. Stay tuned for more updates on hosts, venues, and match schedules as they become available.
