TRU Releases the 2026-2027 Season Schedule

Nearly 200 fixtures across ten competitions, from an October kickoff in Houston to the RRRC Finals in April.

The Texas Rugby Union has released the 2026-2027 season schedule. It runs from Saturday, October 10, 2026 through the RRRC Finals on Saturday, April 17, 2027, and it covers 195 fixtures across ten competitions and 55 club sides.

The shape of the season

The season opens on October 10 in Men’s Division 4 South, with Woodlands hosting BARC and Houston Arrows hosting HARC. From there the fixture load builds steadily through the fall, pauses across the holidays, and returns in force in January when the Premiership, Division 2 and Division 3 D1c campaigns all get underway.

Four weekends are set aside as holidays with no rugby scheduled: Thanksgiving on November 28, Christmas on December 26, New Year’s on January 2, and Easter on March 27. Two make-up weekends are built into the calendar, on February 13 and March 20, giving clubs room to reschedule around weather and travel without losing the fixture.

The season closes with RRRC Playoffs on April 10 and RRRC Finals on April 17.

Ten competitions, 55 teams

The 2026-2027 competitive structure is as follows:

  • Men’s Premiership (4 clubs): Austin Blacks, Austin Huns, Dallas Quins, Dallas Reds
  • Men’s Division 2 (9 clubs): Austin Blacks, Austin Huns, Dallas Reds, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, HARC, HURT, San Antonio, Woodlands
  • Men’s Division 3, D1c (6 clubs): Austin Blacks, Austin Huns, Dallas Quins, Dallas Reds, HURT, San Antonio
  • Men’s Division 3 North (4 clubs): Arkansas Gryphons, DARC, Little Rock, OKC Legion
  • Men’s Division 3 South (4 clubs): BARC, Galveston, Houston Arrows, Shreveport
  • Men’s Division 4 North (6 clubs): Collin County Copperheads, Denton, Fort Worth, Las Colinas, Waco Wombats, Old Skool
  • Men’s Division 4 Central (5 clubs): Alamo City, Austin Blacks, Laredo, McAllen, Corpus Christi Crabs
  • Men’s Division 4 South (6 clubs): BARC, Cy-Fair, Houston Arrows, HARC, Spartans, Woodlands
  • Women’s Division 2 (6 clubs): Austin Valkyries, Dallas Quins, Dallas Reds, sHARCs, Little Rock, San Antonio Riveters
  • Women’s Division 3 (5 clubs): BARC, sHARCs, Round Rock Rage, Spartans, Fort Worth Wranglers

It is worth pausing on the geography. TRU competition reaches well past the state line: Little Rock and the Arkansas Gryphons in Arkansas, OKC Legion in Oklahoma, Shreveport in Louisiana, and Laredo, McAllen and Corpus Christi carrying Division 4 Central down to the border and the coast. Add Denton, Waco, Galveston and everything in between and the schedule stretches close to a thousand miles end to end.

Three dates to circle now

MD4 Central Derby Day, Saturday, November 21. Division 4 Central gathers in San Antonio at the Alamo City field for a one-day tournament rather than a standard fixture weekend. Alamo City host Corpus Christi Crabs and Austin Blacks play twice, taking on Laredo in the first match and McAllen in the second. If you have never made a Division 4 day out, this is the one.

MD1/MD2 Crossover Weekends, Saturday, December 5 and Saturday, January 23. Eight fixtures across two weekends put Premiership sides directly up against Division 2 opposition. December 5 sends Austin Blacks MD1 to HARC, Dallas Quins MD1 to Austin Huns MD2, Austin Huns MD1 to Austin Blacks MD2, and Dallas Reds MD1 to HURT. January 23 reverses the geography, with Austin Blacks MD1 travelling to San Antonio and Austin Huns MD1 to Woodlands. These are the weekends where the gap between tiers gets measured honestly.

RRRC Playoffs and Finals, April 10 and April 17. The end of the road. Two weekends that decide the season across the Red River Rugby Conference.
