2024 Gulf Coast Super Regional

The 2024 Gulf Coast Super Regional is scheduled for May 4-5 at Burr Field in Austin, TX, home of the Austin Blacks. Whether you’re cheering from the sidelines or tuning in from afar, catch all the action as we stream all matches on our Youtube channel*.

We’re anticipating heavy rains throughout the week, and the host venue is confident that their fields will drain well as this is normal weather for Austin this time of year. To prepare for any muddy conditions around the field, we advise fans and teams to pack rain boots, rain gear, and extra changes of clothing. With the current forecast we’re keeping a close eye on the weather, as there is a chance of thunderstorms. Safety is our top priority, and we’ll strictly adhere to the guidelines outlined in the USA Rugby Risk & Safety policy. 

In the event that safety decisions are needed, Match Commissioner Dave McPhail and Host Ryan Little will provide guidance. If there’s a pause in play due to lightning, we’ll wait at least 30 minutes after the last lightning flash or sound of thunder before resuming activities. Let’s ensure safety remains our main focus throughout the weekend!

The weekend’s lineup includes matches on both Saturday and Sunday, featuring teams from Men’s Division 2, Women’s Division 2, and Men’s Division 3 representing the Red River, True South, Carolinas, Georgia, and Florida. Additionally, Saturday will host the Red River Men’s Division 1 Championship, as well as the Women’s Division 1 Red River and Frontier Championship.

Matches kick off at 10:00 AM on Saturday and continue until late afternoon, with finals on Sunday starting at the same time. Admission for fans and spectators is $5, with exceptions for coaches, players, and referees. Our parking attendants will guide you to the appropriate parking areas. Friendly, leashed dogs are welcome to join.

Two on-site restrooms are available for administrators and referees, while the general public and teams will use onsite Port-A-Potties. Additionally, there is a clubhouse on the premises, but it will be closed and reserved for administrator and referee use only. Satisfy your hunger with a variety of grilled food and drinks, including water and Gatorade, available at general concessions. Alcoholic beverages will also be sold on-site.

We are live streaming all matches and they will be available for viewing on the TRU Youtube Channel. However, as a result of our streaming vendor’s equipment being stolen at our Championships in Houston, our live stream for this event will not include announcers or a scoreboard. We’ll strive to provide score updates and other details in the YouTube chat to keep viewers informed.

Please be aware that factors such as weather, event logistics, travel, or player well-being may further affect our partner’s ability to broadcast. The TRU maintains the right to adjust match times and divisions as needed to facilitate streaming.
