Euless Texas vs Fairfield Yankees – USA Rugby D3 Club Championships
by Chad Wise – Fairfield Yankees completed their trip from Connecticut with a USA Rugby Emirates Airline Club Men’s Division III National Championship Sunday in a 41-33 defeat of Euless Texans.
The DIII matchup kicked off the second day of the Championship weekend at Infinity Park following Saturday’s triple-header. The Texans conceded 14 points in 20 minutes spent with a man in the sin bin, and the Yankees had built up enough of a lead in the first half to withstand the Euless barrage in the second. More…
Austin Blacks vs Mystic River – USA Rugby D1 Club Championships
by Chad Wise – The Austin Blacks suffered a second consecutive USA Rugby Emirates Airline Club Men’s Division I National Championship defeat Saturday, a 45-33 losing effort to Mystic River.
The final match of the day at Infinity Park was a thriller from start to finish, with momentum swinging back and forth through 80 minutes. For Austin there will be disappointment, but Mystic’s title has been a year in the making following a Semifinal defeat to eventual Champion New York Athletic Club in 2015. More…
