We’d again like to congratulate our four teams that participated in the 2017 USA Rugby Club 7s National Championships in Minneapolis, Minnesota over the weekend. The TRU and the RRRC were represented well with passion and good rugby!
The Dallas Reds started play on Saturday off on the right foot against Metropolis and won 26-5. In their next two matches they struggled and lost to Old Blue 5-34 and Washington Athletic 14-31. On Sunday they kicked it off with two back to back wins against Beltway 5-0 and Optimus 19-14. In their last match of the weekend and the Bowl final the Reds defeated Metropolis.
The Austin Huns began their play on Saturday with a two losses, first to Utah 7-17 and Bulldog 7-26. Their third and last match was a decisive victory against Beltway Elite 29-7. On Sunday the Huns faced Metropolis and Charlotte and racked up three losses, Metropolis 0-22, Charlotte 7-33 and 40-12 to Schuylkill River.
ARPTC started off strong on Saturday with two wins over Beantown 42-5 and Atlanta 35-5. In their third match they narrowly lost to San Diego 12-17. Sunday’s matches were a bit tougher as they lost to Seattle 12-21 but won over Chicago 26-7. This win put them in the Plate final where they lost 19-12 to New York.
The Austin Valkyries struggled in pool play on Saturday losing to New York 0-33, they defeated Philadelphia 33-14 and were upended by Chicago 5-24. On Sunday they faired better in their first match, beating Tempe 29-0 but losing to Orlando 7-29. In their final match of the weekend they lost to Beantown.
