Letter to the TRU/RRRC Teams

Dear Red River / TRU Clubs:

As you all know, the coronavirus / COVID-19 pandemic has affected our lives in ways many could not have fathomed as recently as a few months ago.  We very much appreciate all of you who expressed your willingness to continue to play out the 15s season, should it be possible to do so.  The responses we received are a testament to the strength of our Union and our sport.

Unfortunately, the situation in the country has only worsened over the last few weeks, prompting USA Rugby to announce an indefinite suspension of rugby matches and related activities in the United States.  A link to that announcement appears below.  There will be no USA Rugby insurance coverage (liability or accident) for any rugby activities during this suspension.   Aside from that, however, we encourage you all to be a credit to our sport by continuing to be responsible and considering not only your own health, but also the health of others.

Although this announcement effectively ends our 15s season, as far as we are concerned, the 7s season is still on.  In the coming weeks, we will be making announcements regarding the 7s schedule.  Let’s make it the best 7s season the country has ever seen.

Thank you all for everything you do for rugby.  Keep the faith.  Stay safe and healthy, both in mind and body.

Yours in Rugby,

The Members of the TRU Board and Red River Competitions Committee
