USA Rugby to recruit seven Training & Education Regional Administrators following collaboration with community stakeholders aimed at reforming a decentralized structure.
As part of the USA Rugby restructure, several stakeholder committees were produced to address reform and increase Training & Education across the rugby community. Through the summer, USA Rugby collaborated with representatives of each level of play to discuss best practices and better coordinate between the National Office and community educators. Representatives from the Youth & High School, College, Senior Club and Referee sectors were notably included in these workshops.
In alignment with the governance restructure, USA Rugby will move on from the centralized management of Training & Education, where the National Office will recruit and support Regional Administrators across seven regions, in collaboration with local stakeholders and educators. While administration of training and education will become regional, stakeholder workshops agree that there must be a degree of central coordination so each area of the game is sharing best practices, distributing appropriate curriculum and not duplicating activities.
USA Rugby will appoint Regional Administrators in the following regions nationwide;
Both the Senior Club and Youth & High School committees will also be establishing Training & Education roles in their respective governance regions to support the Regional Administrators.
Regional Administrator duties will include;
- Ensure there is one contact point for Training & Education related matters within each region.
- Ensure regular communication amongst educators on every level of play.
- Ensure World Rugby standards are met, if not exceeded, in all aspects of Training & Education.
- Ensure educators and trainers are assigned in the best interest of participants and within budgetary requirements.
USA Rugby intends to assemble an experienced, diverse and respected group of administrators. Each Regional Administrator will receive a stipend through 2020 that will be funded by the World Rugby Union Development Investment Program grant, earmarked specifically for Training & Education purposes.
A selection committee will be formed with seven representatives from the Youth & High School, College and Senior Club Councils, Referees, USA Rugby National Office, USA Rugby Diversity Equity & Inclusion Committee, and Rugby Americas North.
