The Texas Rugby Union (TRU) has exciting news regarding the hosts for some of its major 2024 events. The Houston SaberCats have been selected as the hosts for the XVs Championship, while the Austin Blacks will take on the responsibility of hosting the XVs Super Regional. Hosts are yet to be determined for the 7s Series and the Mary Graham All Stars.
RRRC Championships
The Houston SaberCats are set to host our Union Championships on April 20-21, 2024, at their local facility. While clubs are currently engaged in their competitions, the determination of qualified teams won’t be known until late spring.
Gulf Coast Super Regionals
The XVs Super Regional event, slated for May 4-5, 2024, will be held in Austin, TX, hosted by the Austin Blacks at Burr Field. This event brings together qualified men’s and women’s teams from the Red River Rugby Conference and True South Union.
7s Series
Hosts are still being sought for the summer 7s Series events, including competitive (RRRC) and social (TOLA). These events bring together 30+ teams across men and women to crown two Champions. Generally, the RRRC Series has 3 stops. TOLA tournament hosts are also being accepted at this time.
Mary Graham All Stars
We are actively seeking hosts for the Mary Graham All Stars event scheduled for December 7-8. The hosts for this women’s All-Star event, which brings select teams together from all over the country, are yet to be determined. As with other TRU events, this tournament has historically generated around 75 hotel room nights booked by the participating teams and had over 12,000 YouTube livestream views. Hosting this event requires a minimum of one rugby field.
