As previously announced the 2023 Mary Graham All Stars are returning for our seventh annual event! Holly Iker returns as the Head Coach of the TRU “Texas Toast” All Stars and is joined by assistant coaches Mary Swanstrom and Elaine Vassie. The coaching staff is further rounded out with mental skills specialist Mattison Grey and Team Manager Jordan Heller.
The selection of All-Star dates and locations took into account existing rugby schedules, aiming to minimize travel for players. The initial development and selection camp is scheduled for Sunday, October 8, in Grand Prairie, followed by a second camp in Houston on Saturday, October 14. To foster connections and facilitate communication, the coaching staff plans to conduct two Zoom calls, scheduled for Thursday, October 5, and October 12. Zoom details will be provided to registered players.
As in years past, the team will be selected from these camps. If athletes are not able to attend but would still like to be considered for the team, please contact Jordan. The selected team will play in the Austin Valkyries Bat City Tournament on Saturday, November 4.
All TRU members who are 18 years old (as of December 1) are eligible to play. College players that are also 18 years and older are eligible but will need to register with USA Rugby and the TRU with the club TRU All Stars.
Players are encouraged to register their intent to participate by October 3. There is no cost to attend the development and selection camps and we encourage everyone to attend regardless of experience.
